Registered Instructor Application.
This comprehensive workshop focuses on topics such as disabilities, teaching theories, methodology, techniques, rider posture, horse analysis, tack fitting, volunteer management, skills progression, lesson plan development and much more.
CERTIFICATION:
The Certification is open to candidates who have meet Phase One requirements and are on their way to completing the required components of Phase Two by the CTRC OSWC
registration deadline (the deadline does not apply to the Workshop component if
you are planning to attend the Workshop in this offering).
To register for the Certification portion of the OSWC you need to submit the Registration Form along with a copy of your NARHA confirmation of Instructor-In-Training status letter.
Once registered the Phase Two Packet will be sent to you. In order to attend the Certification you must complete and return to CTRC the Phase Two Packet (instructor resume, personal reference, professional reference and essay question as well as the documentation of teaching hours form).
After the conclusion of the Workshop, Certification candidates will be given their riding tests
- so come prepared to ride. Weekend teaching assignments are
also handed out so candidates can review
files and develop lesson plans for the
teaching portion of the certification to be
conducted, depending
on the number of candidates. On
certification day, candidates will be
required to teach a class of two disabled riders who have mild physical and/or cognitive disabilities
for 20 minutes. The riding exam will be
scheduled after registration deadline. Come prepared to ride.
The Certification exam can be taken in conjunction with the NARHA on-site Workshop (which must be taken in order to become a Registered Instructor) OR the Workshop can be taken first and candidates can then take their Certification exam up to one year following the Workshop.
